Our Mission
"The UIUC Horticulture Club aims to advance the knowledge and professional development of its members, promote good fellowship among students and faculty, actively promote horticulture as part of gracious living, and provide access to horticultural knowledge to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign community."
Meet the Exec Board!
Danielle Willenborg
President
Hey! I'm a senior in Animal Science on the pre-veterinary tract with a minor in Horticulture! I really love strawberries and instead of having a regular garden I just have a strawberry patch in my backyard. My favorite part of the club is watching the exec team grow into their roles and members enjoy our events!
Nicole Miedzinski
Vice President and ACES Council Representative
Hi!! I'm Nicole! I am a Junior majoring in Plant Biotechnology and minoring in Horticulture. My favorite plants are either houseplants or fruit plants, but I could never pick a top favorite! My favorite part of the club is working with our greenhouse team to grow plants for our Spring Plant Fair!
Fay Siringoringo
Treasurer and Webmaster
Hi, I'm Fay! I'm a Junior majoring in Agronomy and minoring in Computer Science and Chemistry. My favorite plant is the fabulous Gold Triumph Tulip. I love meeting fellow plant lovers; let’s swap stories and soil secrets!
Shane Werner
Secretary
Hello, I am a junior in English and Philosophy. My favorite plant is the redwood tree. My favorite part about Horticulture Club is learning about new plants!
Mia Eschman
Head Grower
I'm a junior in Plant Biotech and there is no way I could pick a favorite plant without lying. I love home gardening, so I would say anything in the nightshade family because those are my favorite to grow for food (except for the poisonous ones). My favorite part of the club is getting to spend so much time in the greenhouse and learn how to manage production in a greenhouse hands on!
Yudai Takenaka
Membership Coordinator
My name is Yudai, I'm a senior in Crop Sciences with a minor in Chemistry, Statistics and Horticulture! I love seeing all the different requirements that the plants have and seeing them be happy and healthy with our care. My favorite plant is Canada thistle; even though its a rather prolific weed, I had a lot of experience working with them in my local botanical garden and it reminds me of home.
Amy Bour
Public Relations and Social Chair
Hi!! I'm Amy and I am currently a Junior majoring in Environmental Science! My favorite plants are probably water lotuses, and my favorite part of the club is all the opportunities to work with plants and to take them home! Theres a lot of different varieties that the club works with and I love learning about and working with all of them.
Deimante Braciulis
Event Coordinator
I am a sophomore at uiuc and, as a nutrition major, I find a deep connection between plants and wellness. My favorite plant is the sunflower because of its vibrant energy and nutritional value. What I enjoy most about the horticulture club is the abundance of hands-on opportunities that allow us to give back to the community while learning and growing together.
Jessica McNabola
Art Director
Hi, I'm Jess. I'm a sophomore in Art Education. Horticulture club teaches me a lot about plants/plant care, and leaving labs with a new plant puts a smile on my face.
Tyler Gruschow
Intern and Discord Administrator
Hello! I'm Tyler and I'm a sophmore in Bioengineering! In my free time, I like to knit, read, and do nature photography. While I couldn't possibly pick a favorite plant, one of my favorite plants is the Swamp Rose-Mallow for their large, colorful, distinctive flowers that come back every year despite harsh winter weather. My favorite part of the club is how it provides the opportunity to learn more about plants and to meet other people who also love plants!
Julie Ruggles
Intern
I'm majoring in Plant Biotechnology. My favorite plant is Marigolds. It’s awesome to hang out with other planty people.
