Hi! I’m Lauren Smilie, the president of Horticulture Club. I am currently a junior majoring in Food Science and minoring in French. One of my favorite aspects of the club is the opportunity to explore a wide variety of plants through our many labs, which include aquatic plants, carnivorous plants, and air plants. If I had to choose a favorite plant, it would have to be either a Thai Constellation Monstera or a bonsai tree. I look forward to connecting with fellow plant lovers throughout this year!

There are so many cool plants out there and it’s impossible for me to choose a favorite, but a solid choice for me is any oak tree. My favorite part of Hort club is probably the greenhouse care committee; it’s lots of fun spending time in the greenhouses and getting really hands-on with all sorts of awesome plants :)
